There doesn`t seem to be source for H&G sprue plates.
I recently bought 15 of George Hensleys personal molds at an estate sale in the old Murphy, Oregon shop.
Most are 4 cavity. The sprue plates, handles, and screws had been removed. Mold blocks only.
I can replace the screws with after market screws and have handles.
I know there are some very talented machinists here.
Are any of you interested in making some 4 cavity sprue plates for my H&G molds?
If any of you are interested could you give me a price?
I feel I may not be the only one interested in sprue plate for H&G molds.
Thanks....dale

I’m trying to figure out how the sprue holes were made! It wasn’t with a regular countersink.

I talked to North Valley Machine and they have 4 cavity sprue plates available from the previous owners.

Where would they be located? And what's their phone number?

The original H&G sprue plates would not be the easiest thing to make. Milling one out and still keeping it perfectly flat would be the challenge for a home shop. I am afraid a commercial shop that had the equipment and know how, the price would be prohibited.

Because one the 1/4” thickness of the H&G sprue plates it would not be hard to make in the home shop with a milling machine.
The problem I have now resolved is what tool to use to make the deep sprue holes , they appear to be made with a 30 degree countersink. The only one I could find is $56 plus shipping!

Why is it so important to have a 30⁰ counter sink? Why not a 60⁰? With a 1/4 thick plate the 60⁰ is going to be larger at top. That just makes it easier for me to "hit the hole" {g}

Do you mind sharing your source? I've got a couple of derelict H&G molds in need of sprue plates myself..

I too would like to know as well. I have some old H&Gs that could use new ones.

Here is the Email address of the company that is selling the H&G sprue plates.
They are selling for $27 for a 4 cavity plate plus $9 shipping which I thought was outrageous.
I`ve decided not to go with them.
It may be worthwhile for you, so here you go....dale

I wouldn't say what they are charging is outrageous when you look closer at the USPS rates. A flat rate envelope is $7 a small flat rate box is $7.50. Then someone still has to wrap & pack it and get it to the post office. Amazon seems to be the only one that can get stuff to you in 2 days on the cheap. Now if Amazon would just buy the post office we would all be better off.

FYI, USPS is raising prices again.
the SFRB will be $7.90 as of 1-27-2019
all the others are going up too.
my Fav, the Padded Flat Rate Envelope will be $8.00

$27 for one seems like a fair price.
Honestly, based on NV Ballistics listed pricing for their molds, I would have thought they'd charge more than $27 for one sprue plate.

I have decided that at $36 to my door, I can change sprue plates from one mold to another.
What may seem costly to one may not seem so to another....dale
