I have a 22 cal boolit mold and it is hard to get the bases that fill out.
I plan to use another pot to increase the lead temperature and tha my solve the problem but if it doesn’t I am thinking about making another sprue plate with deeper sprue holes and would love to copy the H&G style.
I am now sure how they got the sprue hole shaped like they did.
Anybody got an suggestions?

When making a sprue plate I do the outside and spot the cavities drill an under sized hole thru for the sprues. I then use a 90* counter sink 3/4" -1" in dia and cut the spru close to size under power at low rpm and a lot of oil. ( You need a solid set up as it will want to chatter. Clamp the vise part down on location very securely). The last little bit I finish with the counter sink in the drill chuck turning by hand. A wood dowel ( oak has a nice open grain for this) turned to a lap 90* point and stem to fit your chuck. Coat this with some fine lapping compound 240 works to start and polish the sprue recess work down to around 600 grit. This last step polishes the surface for good release of the sprues and sharpens the cut edge. Stone burrs off and flat. I usually make new sprue plates from 1/4" gage stock

H&G sprue holes are considerably smaller than 90*, I will have to measure one to find the angle.
