What type of alloy are you planning on using? Also are you going to use traditional lube or a coating?

Were you water dropping or air cooling those? If they are sized correctly you probably don't need to worry about it just do what you were doing before.

Great looking bullet.

If I were to use it for elk, moose or possibly large bear I would not harden it as I would be afraid that it might shatter if it hit a large bone. I once had a 400 grain cast bullet made with wheel weight metal shatter when it hit the upper leg bone of a big mule deer at about 25 yards. The bullet was probably going about 1200 FPS when it hit. Unless the leading was severe from the first five shots or so I'd want a little malleability to prevent shattering. That said, I've shot shot some pretty large animals with bullets cast from Linotype metal, but at only 1800 FPS, that worked extremely well but, I didn't hit any large bones.

What ever you decide to do good luck and post pictures.

Make sure there's not another moose behind the one you shoot because I don't think ONE moose will stop that train! The .450 Rigby is basically a beltless .460 Wby isn't it? Or a .416 Rigby necked up?

you are correct its a 416 rigby neck up to 458

where we hunt moose in Quebec very thick brush and if you don't drop them there you have a long trailing to do
4 guy in the group and they all have 458 winchester and I will be the outcast
we all shoot cast in the 550 range and has you said they drop there
