I have one that looks just like it but it is a 22 S,L-LR and has a tube magazine, says westernfield model m842 in front of the front sight on the top of the barrel. Best I remember it shoots pretty good a friend brought it out one day said “if I could get this old junker working I could have it.” I stripped it down and gave it a good cleaning and lo and behold it works every time! it is a good rifle I just wish it didn't look like some ******* carried it around in the bed of his pickup.

It's a Mossberg model 640K. I have one and it does shoot well. Unfortunately they are hard to mount a scope on. They are grooved but toward the rear the groove isn't very long and makes it hard or impossible to get the proper eye relief.

The best solution I've seen is a set of rings sold by havlinsales.com the has the back ring cantilevered to the rear. The cost is $38.

Another option might be a red dot.

I don't have a problem with eye relief with a scoped Mossberg 640K because its stock has a longer length of pull, and the rear sight has been removed.
I have more of a full length scope but there's plenty of shorter compact scopes to chose from if someone needed one.
