My Wife and I will celebrate # 43 tomorrow. She has knocked herself out cooking for Thanksgiving and decorating for Christmas so I doubt that we will do anything special until next week. We got married right out of high school at 18. I wonder what the odds were against that working? The amazing thing is that we still like each other!!!

Congratulations Lightman, that’s a long time for a woman to be in paradise. We just hit #47 last May, and young folks today get married for better or worse but not for long. Enjoy the Hollidays.

Kids today can't comprehend commitment and "for better or worse"! 48 for me and the war department, and still counting!

Congratulations to you and your wife. We hit 51 years last June, we were young and dumb and pregnant back then, but have persevered and can't imagine life without her.

OK...I'm the youngin so far...Next June will be 30 years for us. Problems along the way?...sure thing...but I never expected it to be 100% free of issues. The secret is a willingness to work through the problems, love one another, respect one another, and keep God first in our relationship.

And....Congrats on your anniversary

It will be 50 for us on the 30th of this month. When we set the date we didn't think about the 30th of Nov. was the last weekend of deer season. My best man, all the grooms men(my cousins), my uncles, and all my friends were madder than wet hens. But they came. But if looks could kill, and so on. They lightened up at the reception because I think one of them spiked the refreshments.

That's Awesome !
Few people can say that . Congratulations.

I was acting the fool the other day and the wife hugged me and said after 45 years you still make me laugh ....you do know that's why I married you ? Well it must have been because I'm not good looking or rich ! She was 17 and I was 26 and in Louisiana it was a mixed marriage...she was Catholic and I was Baptist ... but we made it work !
Not only do you have to love each other , you have to like each other and be best friends .

My Wife and I have 36years. We kept Company for 5years, took me a 1 1/2 yrs to talk her into it.

And She still has no regrets. Looks like My Mother picked the Right Girl.

35 is a milestone. That represents a lot of commitment and probably a lot of give and take.

I usually try to get mine some kind of nice trinket every 5 years. In between years its flowers and a meal out in a nice restaurant. It looks like next week for the meal out. We had Thanksgiving last Saturday and She just wants to chill out for the rest of the week.

On the26th my wife and I will celebrate our 60th. Unfortunately we'll celebrate at the nursing home she's at. All the plans we had for our retirement went down the drain.

Just celebrated 45 in August. I was 19, a year out of HS, she was 18, just graduated from HS. I worked on construction for a year waiting for her to get out of HS. We were working on a job in her hometown so I was home. Got married on a Sunday afternoon, went 30 miles away for a dinner at Pizza Hut and a night in a hotel and back to work at 6:00 Monday morning. The next week we started school at a technical school. We have been married so long now we barely remember being a teenager and don't know anything different than being together all of the time. We are even a team at gun shows. A guy recently remarked to my wife about what she was looking for at a gun show. To which she replied, whatever Smith or Dan he has told me he is interested in right now. The guy remarked, that's how a marriage should be. She is the best and at age 63 is still hot! :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone. You guys seem to be committed for the long haul too and its really impressive. So many don't take the vows seriously anymore. We've had our share of ups and downs. I expect most of you guys have too. Evertime we've survived one of the downs I thing we were stronger and closer for the experience. We're old enough now that we have started losing family members. Her Mom and both of our Dads and a Brother and Sister on her side of the family. Congratulations to all of you guys and to your Wives.

My gorgeous wife and I will celebrate 31 years New Years Eve. She was 25 and I was 29 when we met. 6 months later we married and I still thank God I had the sense to grab her. She keeps 20 balls in the air at all times and I just gaze in wonder at her. She gave me two girls and a boy and taught me to like Chihuahuas. Marriage is like a fine machine- it requires regular maintainance to keep it running smoothly! Congrats to the OP and all posters!
