New to casting boolits and this forum. What is a sizing die and how do they work? What would be a good brand to buy and what would be approx cost? I would be casting for a .45 and .50 mzs. Conicals in 300-460gr range! Thanks in advance! Or at least point me in the right direction! thumper50

thumper 50; welcome to the board, a sizer die will take a slightly ovrsize boolit and squeeze it down to a smaller diamiter. I can tell you are a muzzle loader shooter soo, what have you tried for projectiles ?? Brand. weight , diameter, firearm used in ?

I have shot .503 No excuses from my Knights and my .50 gmb renegade. I have shot .504 bullshops out of the ren but they loaded quite hard. Seems to me ,from what I have read is 1/28 twist likes longer (heavier) conicals. Where a 1/48 as in older perc tcs, a shorter bullet works well. Example; I was shooting .45 tc hawken, 240gr maxis. .50 new englander,320gr maxis. Both shot well for me w/open sites. 2-2.5in, I feel I can do better. I do prefer shootin cast over (the awful plas#@#).
