Would it be possible to drill/bore not the sizer end but the upper section of one with a good quality drill bit ? If not could you possibly soften it by heating it up with a torch and air cooling it . I need to open the top section up to .406+ and its only .335 x 2.10 now, thats alot to hone out with emery cloth. Or if some of you with lee sizers could take a measurement for me and see if there are some close to .406 The one I have now is a .30 cal(.314) maybe one for the 8mm would be bigger.

thanks,Tim

A carbide bit in a lathe will do it in a minute!

I've opened up a few. They are softer than Lyman/RCBS, and WAY softer than Star sizers. A sharp HSS bit will work.

They are case hardened; if you hone out 5 or 10 thousandths with emery cloth and grind the surface off the end, it should drill like mild steel.

I tried drilling sideways through one last night; my good drill bit wouldn't do much on the surface, but after grinding away a little bit, it cut like butter.
