Working on getting some MP 432-200hp sized and lubed and maybe hit a snag or not?
Cast soft and when I size I either get a little ring indent from the top punch or the
nose flattens a little or both depending on which top punch I use. Domed or flat punches.
Don't think a top punch came with the mould but if it did I lost it or sumpin.
Base sized first to .430 the tried to lube in a .430 die and same outcome.
When it flattens the hp lip with a flat punch the OAL is not the same but very close
within .002 or so but a very nice even flat rim on the HP.
Tried base sizing and pan lubing but just made a mess with the lube I want to use.
Gonna run these at 900 and 1200 pistol/rifle do you think the OAL dif will be a big deal?
Don't want to go harder
Try some more punches or live with what I got?

I doubt it will matter either way. I would go ringed or flattened depending on which look best too you.

Try the Lyman top punch 303. That's the one I use for my MP-432-200HP's.

It seems to me that the ring would be the better choice as it is less likely to shorten the boolit, than the flat punch. This should then give more uniform OAL of the finished cartridge.

just an idea, I filled rounded punches with jb weld when I wanted a full width flat. maybe you could imprint the nose shape in it to have the shape you want, probably spray paint the nose to make a imprint with some tolerance oversize. but I don't have the same stuff you do so throwing out ideas.

Ordered a 303 and will fill one of my extras with steel bed and let it set up resting on one in the sizer.
I'm sure one of these options will work.
Loaded up some test rounds with the rings and deformed? noses.
Also some base sized and messy pan lubed.
I'll run them for a base line.

Anyone else searching this the 303 is the ticket - not a mark or scuff anywhere.
