Had a great hunt this weekend. Cold!!!! Got a nice 4x5 with the Husqvarna M46 and the NOE 368-285 FNGC at about 40 yds. Love this little rifle. Skinned view is the entrance wound. Hit a rib going in. Exit was almost identical. Processed it all and made 25 lbs of breakfast sausage on Monday. I got two bites of the test patties. The kids wolfed down the other 3/4 lb. :-P

Nice buck!

I have a Husqvarna on an FN action and had it rechambered to 9.3x62mm. I also have a mold for that boolit. It looks like I need to work up a load and collect some venison.

That boolit shoots wonderful out of mine with a safe but decent charge of WC846 (BL-C2). Right at 2075 fps. 2 - 2 1/4" groups are the norm at 100yds with the factory sights. No sight adjustments were required.
Got the rifle from Simpsons LTD. 3 yrs ago and it's a little gem. Came with a Timney trigger, which was a bonus. No stock tang crack either. Great deal for $295!!

Nice! Wish our rifle season was in now, one of these days, I've been meaning to look into what it takes to hunt in Nebraska as a non resident, I'm not far from the state line.

Nice deer and cool rifle. I have the same rifle, one I got from Simpsons. It is a tack driver with jacketed bullets. I'll have to get that mold from NOE and give it a try.

Great shooting with a great caliber.

It would be very nice if you shared the powder and velocity of the load used to harvest this deer.

Gents,
Thanks for the kind words. Same rifle in both pics. M46 Husky from Simpsons, LTD. Shoots right to POA at 150 yds with both loads below.

Load is PPU 8x57 brass necked up with one pass through Hornady dies. 44.0 gr WC846 under NOE 280-368 RNFP (285.5 gr dressed for the dance), WQWW. CCI LR primer. Nothing fancy. I get 2130 fps with Hornady 286 gr J-words and 47.0 gr of WC 846, so I suppose these are around 1950-1980 fps. Never chrono'd them. They shot well (1.5" @ 100yds) and showed no pressure signs, so I saw no need to go further.

Hope this helps.231702

Great buck! What kind of tracking job did you have? I have similar bullet for my Whelen - the 360-310 Thumper. I'd love to have the chance to test it out on game.

I had absolutely no issues with a blood trail. He only ran about 40 to 50 yards and laid down to pass. The bullet did a fine, fine job and no surprise it was a complete pass through. If you hit them in the boiler room with your bullet it will do the same I'm sure. In my estimation there isn't a deer out there that would stop either one of those bullets going 2000 fps, from passing all the way through unless you shot it end to end, and maybe not even then! Very fine buck and equally fine rifle. I also used a 9.3mm this season with the NOE 285 gr. boolit with similar results. My buck was not as nice as yours however. I used the 9.3x74R.
