Having picked up NEF .223 for reboring to .41 mag, seeing as Henry said they're not in the line up...

Well but, it's pristine, it's just never been used.
Are these rascals good for cast and Hornet loads?

I’ve had 3 of them, am down to 1. Accurate with 50-55gr bullets from 2400-2800fps. BUT a 41 Mag handi would be way cooler! YMMV Todd/3leg

that nef .223 must have some hefty bbl meat in order to bore out to a .41 ................. ?

i think the handis had more "contours" of .223 barrels than any other cartridge they offered.

from light to super heavy bull.
almost as many lengths as well.

I have one of the fat ones that has not seen light in more than a decade probably. Scoped up and shooting was very disappointing, through many different factory rounds and various weights and no joy found. Don't remember twist but 50-62 was run IIRC and was a 2-3 MOA stinker.

I have the ultra model. Very accurate with both cast and j-word. It seems to like the 50 grain boolits the best.

Yeah, it's 7/8" at the muzzle.
Almost picked up a 24" last year but let it go.

My youngest son has an Ultra in .223.

I do believe you could beat a bear to death with that heavy barrel. And the kid won't sell it to me, either!

I'd really like to have a barrel to use the goodly collection of .41 molds.
.41 mag is especially attractive so a request for information has been mailed off to another supplier of reboring.
Loading with black like a latter day 38-40 will be nice too!

Watching this. 41 Magnum rifle would be very interesting.

Mailing off inquiries and about to start phone calls.
Got plenty of molds that really deserve a longer barrel.

Also four Lymans, a NEI round light weight nose and the old timer Lee heavy round nose and heavy SWC. Oh yeah and the Lee 195 grainer. So .41 is something I'd really like to have.
I'm either gonna get a cartridge gun or a muzzleloader barrel.

Had sent a letter and SASE to Jesse Ocumpaugh. Got the reply back.
He can do everything needed including the right twist so OK, looks like he's the man.

I like the Noe 60gr. RN bullet out of my 223 Ultra. 4 to 7gr. of TiteGroup make great plinking rounds at a very low cost. I've fired a few 41mag rounds out of a friends 41mag lever action. 41mag makes a great carbine round. Gp

I think ( if memory serves) my NEF .223 is 1-12 twist 50 - 55 grn shot very good. Anything much heavier or VLD accuracy stated falling off. I believe the muzzle is .750 dia on mine. Almost as heavy as the muzzles on my NRA match rifles.

Good Cheer, you are going to love Jesse's work on your rifle. He recently bored and rifled a NEF 30/30 barrel over to a 38/55 chambering for me. Cast or jacketed, that barrel loves to group shots tightly together. Jesse needed only the stripped barrel shipped to him as the cartridge is rimmed and headspaces on the rim, and there is no requirement for action work as in feed-up a repeater. Get ready to put on a huge grin when your barrel gets back to you.

OK, it's finally sacked up and ready to go. Last step was getting the six spline screw driver to dismount the scope.
JES said the .41 can be done in 12" or 20" twist.
Think I will opt for 20".
Question: Any reason to go with 12" twist?
I cannot come up with a reason but thought I'd toss the question out there.

The rifling supplied by JES is gorgeous.
Got the scope remounted.
Looking forward to trying out a whole bunch of molds.

Went digging through the cartridge coffee cans tonight.
Found bunches of wadcutters and semi-wadcutters.
Found about a hundred 240 grain Lee round noses (0.411") loaded with 7 grains of Unique.
Will try tomorrow to check the scope centering and deal deadly blows to a tomato can.
