I'm currently using 60/40 beeswax/paraffin lube. I pan lube with it. It's cheap and I can make it myself. It is used on 357, 44 & 45-70 boolits at velocities about 1400 fps (max). It seems to be working ok. Am I missing anything. Seems to be to easy.

If it works that good you must be doing something wrong!:kidding:

If you like it, OK but that stuff will be real hard and brittle with a tendency to crumble out of the grooves. Worse is that a lot will fly out when the boolit leaves the muzzle throwing the boolit out of balance.
You have even made the beeswax a lot harder.
Research Felix lube. Talk to Lar or Bullshop.

I'm glad that your homemade lube works great!
I make the lube that's virtually the same as SPG: 40% paraffin wax, 40% sheep tallow, and 20% beeswax.
Why spend $30+ a pound when I can make essentially the same thing for about $5 a pound?

Happy Shootin'! -Tom

If the BW/paraffin wax is doing ok for your requirements, you might want to look into just using straight microcrystalline wax

The BW-40801, 165-175 F melting point wax will be just about ideal for you. It's just a bit softer than beeswax and has a tackiness to it that will allow it to stick to your boolits well. It can be adjusted, for hardness with either mineral oil or vaseline for softer, or paraffin for harder. Need more lubrication, add just a touch of jojoba oil. Microwax is porous and has an oil content to it on it's own. Should work great as-is. Just add some Yalye candle dye (Michaels hobby store) and your in business.

The wax store I listed above sells the 10 lb slabs for $4/lb. Shipping is $12. They can fit up to 4 slabs in the same box. Shipping is pretty much the same whether you order 1 or 4 slabs.
