Years ago I has a gentleman build me a pid controller. Life got in the way and I have lost the instructions and the unit doesn't seem to have any brand name or anything and I can't for the life of me remember how to tune the thing. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance....

Double check the actual PID electrical component itself, there should be some model numbers on that.

The most common one is the MyPin TA4
here is a link to a manual for it

I used the JLD612 (link below for manual), it's a much easier manual to follow, and maybe will give you some hints on how to setup yours, even though some of the details are different.

Likely one of these units.
230287

or could be
230288

or
230289

Regardless, basically turn the pot thermostat wide open, turn the PID unit on and set the desired temperature (SV). When the PV is maybe 20° below the Set Temp (SV) activate the AT (autotune feature) and when it's done doing it's thing you're ready to roll. I do have cheat sheets made up for all the above units that are yours for the asking if needed. PM if you like.

And if you can't , just remember that you can cast good boolits without a PID .... I've been doing it for over 50 years. I don't even own a thermometer .

Impossible! You just can't do it! You just cant!! ;-)

:kidding: haha. (I do use a PID though. It's nice (in my opinion) to keep casting without monitoring the pot)
