Moon, that powder is far too slow for the 30-30 case size. Might just begin to work if the case was necked down to 22. ... felix

I've used 5010 in 243, 260 Rem, 7x57 Mauser, 7.65 Mauser, 7.7 Jap, 8x57 Mauser, 8x56R M95, and 30-06. Not the best choice of powders, BUT it worked pretty good. So the fellow can go ahead and try it, it sure as heck won't blow his rifle up. He won't get the upper velocities that other powders will give and it will burn pretty dirty and leave unburned powder granules in the barrel. If you have it already, give it a go and tell us about it.

Joe, how many grains of powder in your calibers? Under 35, forget it! ... felix

I use a drop tube and get in as much as I can in. Believe it or not the 243 and 260 will hold over 50 grs. The 8x56R shoots Oldfellers Boxcar bullet into 7/8 inch group at 100 yards using 5010 powder and peep sights. He can try it, IF, he already has the powder. Like I said it's not going to hurt anything and it might be a nice mild accurate load. You never know what it's going to do unless you try it. I've even tried 844 in the 30 Luger not expecting much. Well I was surprised. It wasn't a top powder choice but I can tell you it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Deputy Al can also tell you about my using 4227 in the 7.62 Tokarev and 30 Luger with GREAT sucess. You just gotta experiment, SAFELY, to see what really happens.

Yeah, I got IMR 5010 and WC 872 and I have made wussie loads with both. WC 872 wussies better, IMHO. I have also made IMR 7383 loads with light bullets and heavy bullets. I have healed even --- afterwards.

I have even made jerketed 270 grain IMR 7383 loads, and feel there isn't anything that the little short rifles wouldn't kill that actually lives here in North America, even lined up two across, when firing that particuar semi-spitzer round at the "reasonable" speeds it leave the barrel at. Trees certainly don't stop it.

My gun shoots jerketed .338 slugs quite accurately, more-so than I can hold it once my flinch gets up to speed .... which it does, real quick like.
