Could someone tell me if the stripper clips made for the '03 Springfield will work on the '98 Mauser?

Try some of the Swedish mauser stripper clips. Will fit the clip loading slots and since they are marginally bigger the strips feed very well. Will work with 6.5x55 Swedish mauser, any rifle cartridge that has a .473 case head. 7&8 mm mauser,308 and 30-06.Box from Sampco or the place in florida that went OOB cost me 40 clips for 20 bucks.Frank

Isnt it the older 93/95 clips that work in the 03?

Yes, I have used 95 Mauser clips in both the 03 and M1917 rifles. They are very close in dimensions to the US clips and don't have those annoying tabs that break off and make the clip unable to hold the shells securely. There are slight differences in various series of clips due to case head dimensions and the dimensions the clips slots are made to. 98 clips didn't seem to fit the clip slots as well, Swedish clips are a tiny bit wider (slightly larger case head) and wouldn't fit either. Never tried the US clips in any of my Mausers as I had plenty of the various Mauser clips and not many of the US ones (and eventually all of them ended up with at least one tab broken and were no longer reliable).
