How can I maintain and treat my rifle stock? Id possibly like to coat or oil the stock on my Win 1886. Im not sure if it has varnish on it as it was made in 1889. I saw videos of people using pine tar and turpentine to thin it out abit leaving a really nice finish on the stocks after a few coats. Maybe some fixin' wax for wood tool handles? A mix of bee's wax, olive oil (any type of oil), and coconut oil I think. It should be good to waterproof it.

My WAG: M-Tecs is referring to Renaissance wax. ;)

Another alternative is Howard's Feed-N-Wax (google)

I clean with a mix of Linseed oil and turpentine and for a protective coat I use bees wax.
