I'm hoping a clueless deer wanders by my stand 50 yards or less. 38-55 Lee 250 over Unique about 1200 fps. I own the flier, 5 shots at 40 yards, 1"dot. And my 44-40 is ready, too......

My practice load runs about that fast, 10 gr Universal under a 250 gr. Accurate 38-250B. Very similar bullet to the Lee, though flat based and a bit bigger meplat. I've so far run hunting loads a little faster using the same bullet. One load runs 1400 the other 1600. I've taken deer with both loads without complaint. Some do run the 10 grin load for deer, I just haven't done it yet.
