So I have a question about the RCBS Lube A Matic top punches. I will so a few types of bullets in it. There are tons of top punches, obviously many rounded, pointed, etc. Can a single size flat punch do pretty much any flat nose bullet? Like a top punch made for 357 magnum, flat nose, can it to a 224 flat nose rifle bullet as well? The way I read it, looks like any flat punch will work for any flat nose bullet.

A flat punch will work for any bullet w/ a flat nose. That being said if the bullet is long and skinny a punch that fits the bullet profile will prevent it from distorting when sizing. There’s only one design where I’ve had this issue. The fitted punch kept the bullet aligned in the center of the die so it sized evenly and the bullet did not flex.

A flat faced piece of ¼" rod (section of bolt etc.) about an inch long will work for a surprising variety of boolits. You just have to try your boolits and alloy to decide if the distortion, if any, is acceptable.
