I've got two MP molds that are both GC designs. One is the Mjolnir HP and the other is a 100 grain 640 series HP bullet. I want to gas check these after powder coating but I noticed that the gas checks barely fit the shanks as it is before coating. I currently have .30 cal .015 thick copper checks from Sage. What is everyone using on their .32 bullets cast from MP molds? My alloy is 96-2-2, blended from pure lead, COWW and some extra tin.

I have the same problem and ordered a gas check expander from NOE to open them up abit more before installing them.

I believe Sage offers over sized 30 cal checks for 303. I would check with him.

He recommended the .015 .30 cal checks I bought.

I have the Mjolnir mould also and have checked them with both Sage's .015 30 cal checks and the 303 checks. I don't think the .303 check is any bigger in the butt -- fits with equal tightness. But it is taller when installed. I don't shoot well enough with my Ruger revolver to be able to tell you whether one is better than the other, but they both seem to work fine.

I size/check on a Star so I don't have to worry about a tight fitting check but I do believe these would be a little on the tight side after powder coating and would be tougher to get checked if using the old Lyman.
