Measured the twist of my 20" 44-40 src 90's model ,with cleaning rod & tight patch ,,??? "6" times can only get 1/2 of a twist ea. time ,, do that mean 1in 40 or 1in 38 , got me stumped . Wanting to shoot Lyman # 429667 240gn. ( mine cast @ 251-252 w/ my 11-13 Bhn. ) But if the twist is to slow ,,, what ya'll think ??

Rossi is one turn in 1 metre, or 39.4"

It will handle 240-grain bullets just fine.

The one I had loved the simple Lee TL429240. It shot very well with 6 grs of Unique. (Little Dandy measure) my current 44-40 shoots 200gr rnfp over 10.5 grs Unique so well that I haven't tried another load yet. It is a Green Mountain barrel/ H&R Topper carbine.

Per the horse's mouth, ALL Rossi Model 92's, regardless of chambering/caliber are issued with 1:30" barrel twist rates.

Well, Hootmix-I lied. I did load 23 .429" Sierra 180gr hp to use up the box. Still 10.5 grs Unique- accuracy was good. I'm going to drag out that old Lee 240gr mould and try some next casting /loading session.
