I was given 50 lbs of 60/40 sticks of bar solder having only used wheel weights to this point, what would I need to do to make this work for 9mm and 40 caliber loads ? Thanks, Derrell

Kinda depends on what you have to mix with them. I would use it to sweeten my ww alloy. If all I had was pure lead, then a 1# bar is about 9.5oz of tin. Mix that 20# of pure lead, good to go for most handgun.

I would use 9 lbs. of w/w mixed with 1 lb. of your solder. That will be close to Lyman# 2. Should be around 14 bhn.

Download alloy calculator http://castboolits.gunloads.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=45784&d=1341560870

and you can figure exactly what you need to alloy to get the result you want.
