Gentlemen,

Can any of you refer me to a good 1911 pistolsmith working in Pennsylvania?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Randy Hollowbush, owner of the Handgunner Custom Shop in Topton, Pa. He's well known and does outstanding work on all types of handguns. Randy is a major competitor and his reputation is well known. He's done work for me in the past and the quality of his work is flawless.

Around my part of the state, Carlisle gun works does good work with handguns, but if you are looking for a full on custom build, or anything like that, look up Michael Hane. His shop is in Zieglerville.

Is Randy taking in new work? Last few times I was in the shop he still had a sign saying no new work. He does an outstanding job on both Ruger and S&W revolvers.

I didn't know that. It's been a couple of years since I saw him last, I don't get down that way as much as I used to. I've had him work on guns for me and several friends had him build them guns for them (outstanding accuracy and reliability). He's not that old, but he might be slowing down a bit for some reason? He used to have so much work he had people working in the shop with him. Maybe he's just behind? A phone call would answer the question.

I've decided to work with Mike from Carlisle Gunworks.

I'd like to add Ted Ulmer at Ulmer's Gunsmithing in Spring Mills, PA. He does outstanding work, but I did not know he worked on 1911s. Had I not already made plans with Mike Hane, I'd be working with Ted again.
