These are the steps I take making 9.3 x 57 from 30/06

Aneal the 30/06 case neck and shoulder with a propane torch
cut the 30 /06 case using a Lee Case trimmer shell holder in a drill press and a 32 tooth hacksaw blade.
the Drill press is set so that the case cuts at 58 MM with a 3/4" hardwood block resting on the drill press table and the saw blade setting on top the 3/4" block
Campher the inside/outside of the case with an RCBS campher tool

Lube the inside case neck with RCBS spray lube sprayed into the case lube can cap and a Q tip
Put the cases in a ZIplock bag and spray with case lube.
Run through the 9.3 x 57 size die.
Time to 2.224"
Campher inside and outside of case neck
Tumble to clean cases,
Prime and load.

Why do you chamfer the cases mouths after cutting to length, just to deburr? Later when you chamfer for the final time do you do an extreme chamfer or just a light chamfer? Ken Waters sometimes recommended an extreme chamfer, almost a knife edge.

It seems like a good idea as it brings the mouth of the case back to round so it fits the pilot on the trimmer easier.
The final campher is to break the sharp edge left after the final trim. If I leave the edge sharp, seating a bullet without damaging the case is tricky.
I would not do a knife edge.
I use a lyman campher tool with the cutter screwed out, and a regular nut plus a nylock nut on the cutter threads, and mount it in a drill press. about 5 seconds of light pressure per case to take the edge off

As long as I can find 8x57 I'll just continue to neck them up.

Same here Wayne. I have made several Mauser and Mannlicher cases from -06 or other -06 based brass but it's a heck of a lot less work to start with something closer. Just found 4 boxes of S&B, 8 X 57R ammo at a local pawn shop. Asked the owner how he ended up with that and he said, "mistake on my part". $15.00 a box so I bought two in case I ever need more X57 rimmed brass. I have a Jaeger drilling in 9 X 57R and the Buffalo Arms brass made from 444 Marlin was a waste of money. The reformed 7 X 57R and 8 X 57R work perfectly.

That is the one, Works great in a drill press the cutter bolt is easy to turn out of the handle
