I now have two short-barrelled revolvers, a 4.75-inch SRH 480 Ruger and Freedom Arms 475 Linebaugh with 4.75-inch barrel.

1. Shooting 325-grain Speer Gold Dots, what is the best powder to use in the SRH 480 to obtain 1050 fps ± 50 muzzle velocity with least muzzle blast and pressure?

2. Shooting 340-grain LBT WFN GS, with or without the gas check, what is the best powder to use in the SRH 480 to obtain 1050 fps ± 50 muzzle velocity with least muzzle blast and pressure?

3. Shooting 340-grain LBT WFN GS, with or without gas check, what is the best powder to use in the Model 83 475 to obtain 1300 fps ± 50 muzzle velocity with least muzzle blast and pressure?

4. Shooting 400-grain Speer Gold Dots, what is the best powder to use in the Model 83 475 to obtain 1250 fps ± 50 muzzle velocity with least muzzle blast and pressure?

Well, with the 400 grain, (or more), boolits in the .475 Linebaugh, H-110 is my favorite powder. The Gold Dots were a "slow" bullet for me in my 4-3/4" .475 incidentally. 1,250 fps is still easy to do.

H110, L'il Gun, and the like are what I use in 6-7.5-inch barrels.

I have neither of those guns, but I really like AA9 for just those shooting characteristics you mentioned. It goes bang, with half the drama as H110. Perhaps you give up a few fps, but it is way more pleasant to shoot in my SRH 44 mag.

The 475 400 grainer is probably more than I can shoot for more that a cylinderful. My 475 comfort level expires just above 325 grains @ 1400 fps in a six-inch barrel.

With a different boolit, something less than H-110 would likely meet your needs. That Gold Dot 400 was a slow boolit for me, and maxed out at just over 1,300 fps.

I haven't fooled with too many jacketed bullets, and find the easier to drive cast better suited to the use of faster powders. I like Herco powder, and would bet it would be a good choice for most of your loads.

Power Pistol meters well, and would meet most of your velocity needs too, my brother and I use it alot for our less than max loads.
