View Full Version : Pat McDonald
I'm about to order some surplus rifle powder from Pat McDonald.
He has a Ball powder that is equivalent to Ball C-2
and a Ball Powder that is roughly equivalent to H-322.
I shoot a lot of .308 Win. with cast bullets ( and sometimes even those J- words ). Would one of those be better than another for use in the .308 Win.

I had a good load of BallC2 surplus equivalent and a Lee soup can in 308. It was the only combo I tried in 308 and shot well enough to ring an 8" gong @200 yards. Gianni
Unless I change my mind I think I'll get an 8 lb. jug of both.
Thanks,
Ben

Some years ago I bought two kegs of AAC2200, which is a ball powder close to H-322 in burn rate. I've found it works very well in everything from .222 Remington to .308 Winchester. Could this be the same powder?
I'm not certain, but everything I'm reading says that Pat's ball powder ( with Ball C - 2 and H - 322 Burn rates ) would work just fine in my 308 Win.

that's because Pat's surplus WC844 is the military powder for the 223 and WC846 is what the military uses for 308.
