Can you load 444 Marlin with 44 Mag dies? Not that I need to because I have neither of those chambering but if I were to pick up a 444 could I load it with my 44mag dies?

I loaded one with 44 mag. dies and found out that I could only go about 1/2 the way with the sizer dies before it got really stiff. I made a round for my collection but one can see a ledge on the case about 1/2 way down the case. So I believe you can but you won't be able to full resize. If one were to fire the ammo in the same gun all the time you may get away with it.

lookin at the case drawings you would`nt be able to full length size , the necks are very close though& the shell holder mite work the rim is .003 " thicker .
probably will give trouble feedin partially sized .

Some people deliberately size their pistol cases only to the depth the bullet is seated, calims it enhances accuracy like neck sizing rifle cases. So I wouldn't be so quick to say it wouldn't work, it might well be worth trying.

I regularily use .44 Mag TC dies to "neck size" my .444s to the depth that the bullet goes into the case.

Eliminates lubing and cleanup and they feed and chamber just fine. I don't thing the seating die would work if you wanted much of a crimp. Might so you'll have to give it a try./beagle

beagle is right it is a good neck size die since they dont make them[cheap] but dont go more than the boolit seating or will leave a ring shotman

I use Lee Carbide 44 mag dies to "neck size" my 444. size only to the bottom of the bullet, then a bit extra. I have never had a problem.

You cannot full length size 444 Marlin Brass with 44 magnum dies. The 444 case is larger at the base than the 44 mag, and most rifle dies have longer bodies than pistol dies do anyway. 444s also use a different shellholder because of this fact. As stated above, it is possible to partial or neck size 444 cases with 44 mag dies.

Yep. Don't try to FL resize or you have problems. I use a wooden dowel in my TC sizer with a mark on it. I remove the decapping rod and drop the wooden dowel in and size. When the mark's exposed, your neck sized. I then decap with a universal decapper.

For what it's worth, my TC .357 dies is used to neck size .35 Remingtons and a .44 Mag TC die can be used to neck size .44-40s./beagle

i agree you can partial size the 444 case in 44 mag dies, i once tried to full length size a 444 and the t/c ring cracked on the rcbs 44 mag die i sent it back and got a new die from rcbs for free even though it was my doing

something else i found a 44 mag shot in a pistol and Neck sized[about 1/3 ] shoots fine in a 444 rifle it just is a single shot rick
