I came across a vintage Remington R51 in .380 (1st generation) for about $400 (great shape). I read somewhere that they were kinda fragile. Any thoughts on this gun as a shooter/collectable?

I've always wanted one and never heard a bad word about them. It's only money; you'll make more- snag it if it's in great shape.

I have a Remington Model 51 that now has a broken breech block. When it worked it was a soft shooting gun with horrible sights and a worse trigger pull. That said it is a great gun that recoils like a .22. They are of the highest quality and comparable to any gun made by Browning or Walther in the pre-war era.
