Here's a link to a group buy I ran. A couple guys backed out so we have molds available if you want in. its for a 150gr TC single lube groove flat base boolit in a lee 6 cav with no handles.

pm me if your want in. I think arctic breeze also just had a feeler out for a heavier 40sw rn bullet.

thanks it fits in what i thought would work. just was looking for what others are using. the gb is longer than i can wait. i am looking at lyman 4 cav, lee 6 cav, or nei 6 cav. i do not have one now, wanted some feed back of weight and design. thanks any way.

I've got a 2 cavity Saeco truncated cone that started at 175. I took a drill bit and removed that **** bevel base and they come out about 180. Absolute joy to use; once up to temp every boolit is a good one.

Yeah, they're cheap--possibly even "disposable"--but I gotta be fair, the Lee truncated cone designs for autopistols cast well and shoot VERY well. They have a small bevel base, which I don't care for--but I just wipe off the bases as I lube them with a quick twist on a paper towel anchored to the workbench top.

The 40 caliber version weighs 178 grains in 92/6/2 alloy, about 180 in WW metal. The Beretta 96 with its 1-10" twist rate needed the 92/6/2 to keep from skidding, but the CZ-75 and its 1-16" twist runs WW metal at .401" without a trace of leading to the caliber's full power level, 950 FPS. No secret squirrel lubes, either--just old school Alox/beeswax.

if a 140 gr tc 40 cal bb would shoot and feed good would be nice . that would give you 1000 free bullets every 4000 bullets you cast, over the 175 gr. for action fast pace shooting is the tc nose a good one?

The TC design doesn't hang up a bit in any of my pistols I use them in--9mm, 40 S&W, 10mm, or 45 ACP. I have no personal experience with the lighter-for-caliber boolits in the 40 S&W, but you make a good point in terms of metal conservation.

I load the TC designs with about .020" of the front drive band exposed above the case mouth, lightly taper crimped, and work loads up from there. My current 40 S&W load uses 4.7 grains of WW-231 under the Lee 175 grain TC, and it duplicates factory ballistics with the 180 SXT (my carry load) pretty closely.

+1 on the Lee TC design. I've cast over 1000 boolits through my 175 gr mold, and not a sign of a problem. If they are disposable, I'll just buy another when this one wears out.
