CH 206 (with bonus Auto Champ Mark IV)

Greetings all,

Just wanted to share some pictures of a press that I didn't even know existed until about a week ago. I just acquired a CH 206. Actually, I was looking to trade for the CH Auto Champ Mark IV to go with my fleet of Green Machines and the fellow threw in the 206 as a bonus. He didn't know exactaly what year it was from he started using it in the 1970s.

What it is: Single stage with an inline 4 position die plate. Its pretty slick! Im missing the primer arm and the handle is not the original (or has been cut down if it was). It seems to be pretty uncommon as I can only find a few references to them online and only two pictures of other examples. Im planning on contacting CH to see what other information they can provide. My understanding is that they may still have some spare parts kicking around for it.

If anyone has any literature (CH catalog or ads, etc.) for it or other information I would love to know about it.

Back in the 70s I had a press like that CH auto you have shown. If I remember correctly, I had trouble getting powder measure parts for it. It worked ok, but only had one load available and it wasn't the load I wanted at the time.
Now I wish I had it back.

I've looked at the C&H site on Ebay a lot lately after buying an old C&H shotgun press. Some very interesting pieces of reloading equipment featured there. Gp

I really like the looks of that press. I am a stubborn holdout in the belief that a single stage will make better ammo. The only complaint is the frequent die changes, this press would allow you to set up a caliber and just go like heck!

I have 2 of the Auto Champs a MarkIII and 5A. I think they are great progressives. If you can, get the parts to convert the primer feed on yours to the 5A which mounts the feed tube on the top platen. That keeps it out of the way when you place a bullet on the case at station 3. My 5A is a comfortable 400 rds per hour even loading case and primer tubes. The only real tricky part is adjusting the primer feed and that's not that bad. I have the owners manual for the MarkIII somewhere on my computer, if you like I can Email it to you. Let me know.
Ps. Case tubes for 38 spl,9mm,.380 can be made out of 1/2" plastic pipe. For the .45 acp you need 1/2" copper pipe as the i.d. is larger.

The CH 206 super slider is a wonderful press. That one needs some work but will load'em as good as anybody press. I do have additional shell plates if one needed some.

I had one years ago . Still have the original Cast Iron primer catcher in the box

You can make a Dillon powder drop work with a little work and I prime my cases before loading them with the machine (no decap pin) and get rid of the CH priming and powder system, it pretty well gets rid of the problems of the original press. If you use the case feeder you can flat run a lot of ammo through the machine in a hurry.
