Question about Winchester molds

Is the hinge stud on Winchester molds removable, or is it crimped on? I came into possession of a moderately rusted Winchester mold. The important part of the mold is pretty good, most of the rust was on the outside and the handles. I was barely able to pry the mold open, so have soaked the hinge with kroil for several days. It now has full movement, but takes both hands to to do it. I wouldn't think that is the way they were designed, and would like to take the hinge apart to get the rust and crud cleaned out before I try casting with it.
This is the first Winchester mold I ever owned, so thought I'd ask here about how to take the handles apart before I start wrenching on them.
