I am shooting target loads in Lyman 452460, 45 auto.
Are you guys filling one lube groove or both?

cabezaverde,
Interesting you posted this. I recently got a LEE 6-cavity mold, .45 caliber, 228 grain, round nose, 2 grease grooves.
Intiially, I filled both grooves w/ 50/50 lube. Shot perfect, but lots of lube fouling on the magazines, expended brass, and feed ramp.
I reduced lube to bottom groove only; still shoots great, way less lube fouling.
Give it a try!

I used Javelina lube and back when I was shooting lots of 4.5 gr Bullseye loads with that Lyman bullet I only lubed the bottom groove. There was no leading with the bullets cast of WWs and sized .452 in my Colt M1911s or my Colt & S&W M1917s. Accuracy was always excellent.

I use the hard lubes and only lube the bottom groove of 452460, learned that lesson over 30 years ago when I owned a Ransom rest. I do the same with .38 spl wadcutters.
