I've been pondering one of these since I saw them a couple of months ago. Looking at the 4" model. Pretty neat little wheelgun with a 10-shot cylinder. You know, I never really was much of a Smith fan until recently. Now I want one of their Jerry Miculek 625's as well. This could get expensive!

Kevin;
Better late than never:mrgreen:. The 617's are wonderful revolvers. They are a bit heavy in the .22 caliber but are not only good on their own, but make wonderful understudies for the centerfires.

I have a 6", 10 shot 617 and it is MINE![smilie=1:

I also have a Jerry Miculek Special 4" and it is my most shot revolver. They just don't get any better.

Dale, do you think those JM grips on the 625 would fit the 617? Mirror image pistols, and like you said, a wonderful understudy.

I can't answer that as I don't remember if the 617 is round butt or square butt (the JM Special is round butt). Keep in mind that the 617 is a "K" frame and the JM Special is an "N" frame (I have heard that the round butt "N" frame is the same as an "L" frame round butt but I have not verified that.

I have Pachmayrs on nearly all of my revolvers. However, since I bought the grips when I acquired the revolvers, I would just order the new grips for the new revolver... Pretty lame, but that's my story:groner:.

Back to your question - I don't think that they will interchange.

Thanks, Dale! I wasn't sure which frame the 617 was built on.

The 625 is a sweet pistol.
I prefer the older models.
I just picked up this gem here for $550 shipped

Basically I traded a Ruber P89DAO and $150 for the above pistol. I thought it was a STEAL!!

I have a 6-shot variant Model 617 x 6", and I love it. The wife and daughters love it too, so I see little of it on shooting trips unless I go solo. They do let me clean it for them.

The 617 is a round butt K frame requiring a different JM grip than the 625 (N frame round butt). I have that grip in my 625, 627's, 617, 21 and 22 and they are wonderful. The grips are not interchangeable.
