Hi Folks,

I just purchased a used Lyman single-cavity 429421 mold, but it is without the two handle screws or the handles. I see from other forum posts that Lee 6-cavity handles should work, but where can I get screws to attach the handles?

Will the proper-thread screw from a hardware store work? If not, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Glenn

Regular screws will work. If you have another mould so you can remove the screw to take to the hardware store, that would make it easier. I don't remember the size off hand but I have replaced a few and getting the right one is a little difficulte but doable as long as the hardware store you go to has a good selection. I think I ended up going with a allen screw if I remember right. Lyman does make a rebuild kit for fairly cheap and I think all the hardware comes with it.

glw,

That would be a 8-32x7/8" with a head diameter .250"

Thanks for the help! I'll head to the hardware store with that info.

................IIRC a sockethead screw is almost a perfect fit in the countersunk hole. MIght have to chuck it in a drill motor and file on the head a bit, but it makes a very neat clean replacement. And yes, 8-32 tpi.

are all the same? that one i looked at today was an 8 but looked like a 24tpi. i had to make 2 for a H&G mold . By hand about 2 hours. I had asked if the 4 cavity Lyman handles will work on a H&G. They will but the inside of the handles need to be cut down so they will close tighter. rick
