Just got a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag. Thinking about Lee Bullet Mold C429-240-SWC + gas ck. casting with lyman #2 + alox for hunting - any suggestions for loads- anyone use this bullet - will also be using in Ruge Redhawk

I have both those and I go with the Lyman manual of cast bullets and work the load up to where I want it and the gun likes. On the RH I size my boolits to .430 and on my Marlin I size them to .431 since it is a micro groove and see I get better groups in the Marlin with that size boolit as to the ones I use in the RH. I also have that mold also. Beside others .The 310 one you will know you shot that one.but like I was told on the 310 for rifle go with the top crimp grove and the bottom for the RH.Hope this help some.Go with the data of the weight of the booilt in the manual .

The SWC may, or may not feed well through your rifle. You'll have to try it to see. I've got some Marlins that won't feed a SWC bullet at all, and some that don't even know they have a sharp shoulder and feed them really well.

Hope this helps.

Slug the barrel then get a mold that fits. I have a Rossi that slugged out at .432. http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/index.php?cPath=37_203&osCsid=vsfmiq85vatf0585al15uiuvd2 is what I have and it works well. This is a RD design made for Marlins http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/index.php?cPath=37_478&osCsid=vsfmiq85vatf0585al15uiuvd2

I might suggest Accurate molds 43-240AG as another option to consider after slugging. Tom will customize as needed. Shoots beautifully in my 1894. I’m sizing to .431 in mine. Just happens to fit nicely in my SBH as well.

I developed a good load using the LEE 200gr flat nose bullet and a near max load of H110. Out of my 20" Rossi 92, that bullet was smoking (literally) at nearly 2000 FPS. I haven't hunted with it yet, but I have no doubt it would knock a deer over like nobody's business. It'll also knock you around a bit.
