I have an Enfield P14 made by Winchester in 303 British that needs a trigger pretty badly. I'm told that the Timney P17 will definitely not fit. I'm also told that the Timney P17 6-shot version definitely will fit...
Anyone have input on this? I called Timney and they said no but refused to say why. It may be a lawyer no or it maybe a real no. I couldn't tell.

This might be about whether the P17 (M1917) has a straightened floor plate, magazine capacity reduced by one (i.e., 5 vs. 6), and a shorter trigger, which was one of the "sporterizing" modifications of the time.
I have a Timney trigger on my P14. Pretty sure it's the same trigger as the 6-shot M1917.

That's the impression I'm getting. I'm taking the chance and ordering the the 6 shot capacity Timney. There's even an answer in the questions from Brownells that says the 6-capacity fits unaltered 1914's...mine is an unaltered 1914 Winchester. I'm hoping it it all works.
