I have an older 30wcf Model 94, I was all excited to shoot this weekend at the range with a bunch of scouts, I had loads with @9.5gr of Unique, and 311291 Boolits (from a previous Group Buy, not original Lyman/Ideal) and 311041's sized both .309 and .310. The 311291's would not fit in the chamber of the rifle. I thought this boolit design was a standard one for this rifle. Any comments? Was the group buy fatter in the front section? Lucky for me I had a Trapdoor and Ruger #1 458 Lott along to keep everyone entertained. The 311041's were fine, by the way.

Doug,

I had the same happen in 2 guns '94 & '64. It is not unusual, the bore riding section of the nose is probably bigger than .301 and there in lies the problem. The 311041 is OK because the tapered FN does not interfere. If you get a 311291 to cast the nose less than .301, you shold be OK.

Hey doug, try 32.0 of WW748 with it. I shot some out of a 94 SRC that I had; very accurate.

If I remember the LEE group buy for the 311291 right , when they came in they were a bit ..."fat" . Those that didn't mind them that way e-mailed the buy leader and the molds were sent out ( I chose the fat one , haven't shot it yet ) The rest I think went back and were made right . Put a micrometer on the nose and see what ya have .

I have a 308291 and a 311291. The 308291's nose is .297-.298, the 311291 nose is .301-.302. I have to watch which 30/30 lever or pump I use them in. I gave a friend some to load and try of the 311 and they stuck in his 336 that was made in 1952. Had to tap the bullet back out the barrel as the case came out with-out it. The 308291's work fine in his 336. Mark

Well, just as an experiment, I poured some 311291 boolits, using 25:1 lead/tin @800*and the nose drops to .299", but the driving bands drop down also .308". It should bump up OK, but then if your bore groove diameter is real big then ?????????????

Just food for thought,

My 311291 fits (and shoots) fine in my 64A, but won't even start to chamber in my MG 336.
