Mono / Lino Type Score!!! - and some pewter

Yesterday while hunting pewter I ran across some old milk jars or "Type"... I asked the forum if it was a good deal $200 for approx. 80-100lbs.

Well... I went back today and man am I glad I did!!!! The old guy had found 2 more full drawers of large type... plus two nice pewter pieces for me...

Let the dealing begin... He wanted $250 for everything... we settled on $225 for it all. Got it home and on the scale... 209lbs!!!! I'll subtract 10% for the jars and wood... leaving me with about 190lbs of mono type lead and 4lbs of pewter for $225. My cost about $1.10 per pound.


Not sure I will ever be able to use this much... but I'm sure I can trade for COWW or Pure Lead. :-D

Also... had a little fun with the letter and the Cast Boolits logo!

I bought about 20 pounds a few months ago and it was mostly spacers so I didn't lose much lol

wow... did my first blend today... 20lbs pure, 10lbs COWW, 2lbs Mono and .25lbs Pewter

Math says it should come out around BHN 11... a little monotype goes along way!!

Those wooden printers trays sell for around $10 to $20 each around here. That will lower your per lb price further.

really!!!! he has the entire cabinet at the store... offered it to me!!! I'm going back tomorrow to hunt more pewter... may just pick it up as well.

those big block letters are at least monotype if not harder. If you really are interested in some pure on trade pm me.
