The light of knowledge, of love, maybe of understanding. I saw the light once in my life but have a hard time describing it in words. GW

1 John 1:5 God IS light.
1 John 4: 7;8 God IS love.
John 4:24 God IS Spirit.

3 declarative statements that I finally understood some years ago. 3 things we know about the nature of God. Not metaphor or similee.

Charlie just after your knee operation, I knew you were in pain. I know we are seperated by distance.
But I also know that God's love knows no boundary's.

So I lifted one hand to the LORD, Lord, charlie is hurting, can we help him?

And I lifted one hand to you. What you got is the light, love.

The Lord God Almighty is Light/Love. And he can send it where it is needed. You needed it.

Now before you freak out, you owe me nothing. It was not me that made your recovery go as well as it did. It was the Lord. You don't even owe me thanks. We are brothers, there can be no debt between us.

Only love and light.

Be WELL charlie!

The "Light" is just the realization of what God is, where we fit into his great plan, and an understanding (insofar as we're capable of understanding) of what He is, and how very, very much He loves us, and wants us to be happy. He's given us the best advice and instruction we could possibly ever receive, whether we utilize it and accept it or not. If there's greater indication of how much He loves us, I can't imagine what it would be. Just my thoughts, of course. I can verify this: When His Light sines on you, you can most certainly FEEL it!!!

The "Light" is what has been revealed about God that could not be known unless he revealed it. This revelation started in the Old Testament and culminated in Jesus' message and personality.

Like many analogies and figures of speech in the Bible the full idea of "Light of the world" may be lost on the modern audience. The absence of light is darkness. But most of us are never truly in darkness. Cities remain lit at night, many houses leave outside lights on and many people have night lights to guide a person to the bathroom. In Jesus' time I would imagine that on a moonless night you'd be stumbling around in total darkness without a lamp.

I once visited the Cave With No Name in Texas. Part of the tour included turning off the lights and showing people what total darkness was. It was freaky to a lot of people.
