I went over to Cabelas to kill a little time today. They had a Uberti 1873 in 44-40’for $899. Why do I want one of these so bad?!! :-D
It was cch with a 20in round barrel.
Is my lever gun addiction getting out of hand?[smilie=1:

No ... not out of hand.

You are perfectly normal

Run back and buy it

That’s not a bad price either

Jump on it!
I jumped on a very nice used one at a gun show this last weekend, 45LC though.
Really like it!

If I had the cash, it would be in my safe. Right now, I would have to sell of some guns before I could buy anything else.
It is a sweet looking piece though and oh so tempting!

Heck of a price. I got one used 25+yrs ago from the original buyer. In those days the carbines came blued only. He had it CCH'D. Then decided to quit COWBOY SHOOTING.

It was so cheap I borrowed money from my Brokerage account without telling the Wife.

Slick as greased Lightening. I never had it worked on. Just shot it enough to make it slick. I did have a brass "bead/bar" brazed to the front sight & a WILLIAM'S Full BuckHorn Rear to replace the crappy "factory" rear sight.

I went to Cabelas today and looked at it again. I misremembered. It is a 24 octagon barrel with a cch reciever and pistol grip. I handled it and it is so smooth working the action.
I told the guy I am going to regret not being able to pick this one up for a while.
Oh well, there’s always the next one right?

So even crazier!
I went to a friends Father in laws house to get his ‘64 Ranchero running so he could sell it. His health is deteriorating rapidly and he will have to sell his house and move in with my friend so they can take care of him. He is a big lever gun addict and I was telling him about that one at Cabelas. He asked if I wanted a real one in 44-40. Aargh!
I told him if I had the cash I would be on that like a duck on a June bug!
He is selling all of his guns since he can’t shoot anymore.
I haven’t seen his collection yet, but my friend and him are talking about inviting a select group of friends over to get first shot at his collection.
I guess he has a bunch of really nice and rare Winchester’s. I can’t wait!
