I have some old scopes laying around with various problems, some with very clouded lenses, and wondered if there is any way to clean them, without spending the cost of a new scope? I've heard some lenses are made in halves, glued together with Canada Balsam, and they can be boiled to separate them , cleaned , and re-glued together. Has anyone done this succsessfully, and can offer some guidance?

If you can find a copy of "guide to Riflescope Repair" by Dr. J.W. Seyfried ISBN 0-934639-00-0 it describes in detail how to fix many problems with scopes including how to separate and re-glue the lens elements. I suspect the book is long out of print but you may be able to locate one on the used book market. This is a good location for finding old books: http://www.bookfinder4u.com/

I see I didn't read far enough, KYWOODWRKR beat me to it.
