Anybody got a small ring Mauser bolt for a gun chambered in .233 or 300 Blk?
I bought a couple of actions from a member to use barrels made by Rhineland Arms but the bolt faces need to be modified and I want to see how it should look!

That would take a REAL TOP QUALITY GUNSMITH to weld up a bolt face. I saw a few in the early to late 1960's for 222REM, but then most every one switched to the REM 700.

A lot didn't weld them up but silver soldered a ring or bushing in and recut them. On the mauser the extractors cut and set up to the smaller rim dia may be trickier

It is much easier to convert a Mauser to a belted magnum than to a 223 or 7.62x25mm.
I have done both.
The Mosin Nagant bolt face is easy to convert to 223 single shot.
Way easier to buy a 223 Sav 110 or Rem 700 and rebarrel it with a premium barrel.
From Macfarland INTRODUCTION TO GUNSMITHING
"It is rather impracticable to use large military action for small cartridges such as the .222. However, there are those who insist upon it, and the job can be done. The bolt face recess is too large and the process employed to bush the recesses are not satisfactory...." He the shows pictures.

When my brother does it, he TIG welds everything.
I have done it with grind to fit Brownells extractors

I agree wholeheartedly with the naysayers. I see used Savage Axis for $200 quite frequently.

The round bottom bolts for the '95 Mauser are getting scarce, but there are still '93 Mauser bolts with the square chin to be had. I'm converting a '93 Mauser to 223, but it's still a work in progress. Instead of modifying the Mauser bolt face, I cut the head off of the Mauser bolt body and adapted a Savage 110 bolt head to it. This converts the rifle to push feed, and the bolt face is already correct for the 223. I would not recommend doing this unless your making the conversion as a hobby project. There's a lot of work involved, and its much easier and less expensive to just buy a rifle in 223. Also, a Mauser converted like this will not feed from the magazine if there's a thumb cut in the receiver. (the 1895 Chilean Mauser doesn't have a thumb cut) If you haven't already purchased the Rhineland barrels, it would be less of a headache to use the small ring Mausers for more traditional calibers like 250 & 300Savage, 6.5x55 Swed, 7.65 Belgian, 7x57, 8x57, 9x57 or 9.3x57. If you have your heart set on converting a small ring to 223, it can and has been done, but doing a build like that is always two steps forward and one step back.

Where?

I was also interested in making a 9MM bolt action and a 300 Blk. The work needed on the bolt for both is almost the same.

Used Remington 799, Mini Mark X, Charles Daly, all by Zastava. Do a search. EAA may still import them. If you can pull it off on the SR Mauser you might as well make it take AR mags. Good luck on your project.

Century's site shows them in stock but no price listed.
I have converted a SR Mauser to 30-30 so I understand the want to have a unique rifle. But that conversion is gonna be a tough one. Keep us updated.
