I finnally gave in and tried it after nearly getting smoked to death from allox in my local range. I am very impressed. Took me 2-3 coats to get something I liked the look of using some powder coat that was the only one I could find on amazon. Sizing thinned the coat down enough that I worried I might get leading, but I was wrong. Through my 357 magnum they shot accurate. The load felt a little hotter then it normally does, i've heard some say their powder coated bullets move faster, perhaps this is why? Either way, im a convert. I had less smoke then the guy shooting factory loads beside me, and when I got home and inspected my bore it looked clean as a whistle. Cleanest its ever been after a session. The only downside is I prefer the look of clean lead bullets over painted bullets, but the benefits are simply too great. If you haven't given this a try, I highly recommend.

Smoke (vendor here) has clear PC. Looks like lead, just shinier!

For the 'look of clean, lead bullets' try Smoke's Clear. From my experience, it's the most 'forgiving' of all his coatings when doing 'shake & bake'. I'm currently using it on my .308s...very tough, slick coating that sizes without any hint of galling and, according to my chrono, I pick up approx. 150-160 fps over naked boolits lubed with Carnuba Red using the same powder charge and brass.

1 coat will give you all the protection you need. ▲▲▲smoke 4320 sells a clear that might fit your bill.▲▲▲
You can get and mix almost any color you want

Most TGIC Polyester GLOSS colors will work, the flat colors don't do so well dry tumbling.
Many people use different colors to differentiate different powder charges.

Hey.....who cares what color they are! They all go SPLAT on the other end!

I have never understood all the fuss about all the weird colors. I use mainly red, yellow, blue, matte black and white......and any colors I can mix from those primary colors.....which is pretty much the rainbow if I wanted.

I don’t know about “tgic”......(??)........but PC increases the diameter by ~0.002 or so. ASBBT is less accurate in controlling thickness and can clump on sides. ESPC (what I use almost entirely) gives even smooth accurate powder coats every time.

It depends on the color and the brand. .001 to .005.

I have no trouble controlling thickness with ASBBT. I dump the coated boolits in a colander and shake through the BB's and the excess PC.

Grmps,
Where do you get the Chrome? I didn't see in in Smoke's list of flavors. Ed

BangerjimI don't care so much about crazy colors, but I do use colors to identify loads, especially in 45 Colt. In 45 Colt I use bright red to identify Ruger only loads, yellow for max loads at normal pressures for all guns and white for target loads. This helps to prevent hot loads in pistols that can't handle the high pressure loads.
