Not being nearly as active on Cast Boolits as on other boards I've been a bit reluctant to post this. However, it's obvious there is many Christian brothers who belong here and I treasure every Christian brother & sister.

About a month ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer. As one of my dear, dear friends and classmates from the 1st grade said, it was a "God incident" it was even discovered. Had zero symptoms and only went to the ER with incapacitating back pain. Personnel and staff at the ER suspected a heart attack....which I was 99% certain it wasn't and turns out I was right but, that's ok, I could have just as easily been wrong. While checking blood samples they discovered my hemoglobin was way low and insisted I follow up with my personal doctor, which I subsequently did. She ordered a colonoscopy and during it, the mass was discovered. It appears that we're still ahead of it to at least some degree.

Not to belabor the subject, surgery is finally scheduled for next Monday, July 2nd. The festivities begin at 1:15 PM. Obviously I'd like prayers for me but as much for the surgical team and more so for my wife. She had a brain tumor 3 years ago with subsequent surgery and radiation. She is doing great and at 95% to 98% of her old self but, her ability to handle stress has been significantly compromised. She's handling this ok on the outside but I know better on the inside. I'm a whole lot more worried for her than for me.

Sharps, daily prayers for you and your wife on the way. I've been down the cancer road, and it wasn't---isn't--a lot of fun. However, tho it isn't easy, give the problem to God completely, don't hang on to it, and everything will be done. His healing power for body and spirit is beyond comprehension. Sharps; I practiced the Art and Science of Anesthesia for almost 40 years and I have some advice. Please discuss with your Anesthesiologist and/or your Surgeon about receiving a continuous Epidural for Post Op pain management. I not only applied this technique, but I was the recipient of said technique when I had my partial Colectomy. Almost no post op pain and the pain I experienced was easily controlled with oral medications once the Epidural Catheter was removed.

Father, I come to You to pray for sharps, his better-half, and the medical team that will do his surgery on July 2nd. Please guide the medical team that will isolate and remove the mass in his colon. Please heal him and give his a clean bill of health so that he can continue to serve You, his wife, and his friends. Father, You are the great Healer and it is through You that others are able to treat and heal others. Father please answer my prayer for comfort, healing, and removing of fears associated with cancer. AMEN

"Thank you" is two words that are inadequate to express gratitude and appreciation. Praise God for such men as ya'll. In a few hours we're off to St. Louis to Barnes/Wash. U. to meet with sparky's counterpart and have the tests to make certain I'm good to go with the surgery. sparky, thank you for the advice. Shouldn't be any problems with any of the tests, EKG and the like. Other than this fork in the road I'm really quite healthy...so far.
