Does anybody own a Ruger Redhawk?

If so, can you do me a HUGE favor?

I'm making a set of grips for someone, and they will wrap around the grip frame. As such I need to know exactly how thick the grip frame is. I don't have access to the gun though, so that makes this hard to do. His is an older Redhawk, though I don't know if that matters. Does anybody know what the grip frame thickness is?

I've 3 Redhawks 357,44 and 45 Colt measured with my micrometer the frames are.407 to.410. All 3 were made in different years decades apart actually so that close in in thickness over 40 years is quite remarkable. Come to think of it are you talking the thickness,the area between the grips or the width from the bottom of the grip frame to the top.

It is amazing that they are that consistent. It would kind of be interesting to see how well somone like Colt has done with the SAA over it's different generations.

Ruger's frames are castings and how they're machined is a guess on my part. I suspect some type of CNC set up,the oldest 4edhawk is the 357 and that has to be near 40 years old. The 44 and 45 are much newer than the 357 probably 15 to 20 years old,the 45 Colt is not the current 45 Colt/45 acp. All 3 sport the same 7 and a half inch barrel.
