I just inherited a 25-284 from my Dad. There are also two full boxes of 284 FACTORY ammo that he intended to use the brass from for his wildcat. When I pull the bullets,
I can use the brass and primer for the 25-284, the bullets in my 7mm mauser.
I was thinking I could use the powder in a slightly larger caliber and case if I use the
same weight bullet. So here is the question.

Can I use the powder, in the same charge, with the same weight bullet (but one step
up in caliber) in my 30-06? The case capacity of the 30-06 is a little larger than 284.

The case is the same, therefore you can use the same charge because the bullet has a larger diameter. The converse would not be so. ... felix

I loaded the powder in my 30-06 and got a very accurate but slow (2600 fps) load that has
been fun for target practice.

Now I have some 115 grain gas checked boolits. Lyman 258231 What would be a good powder and load?

I have 2400, 4759, trailboss, 5744.

As usual, felix was correct as clearwater found.
