I recently lucked into a huge estate sale of reloading equipment. I have been going through it and updating my equipment from the pile I brought home. Included in this estate are a lot of molds (in excess of 20). What I know about casting bullets is that you can melt lead and pour it into the molds and that there are different hardness levels for different applications. That's it. ZERO hands on knowledge. Can anyone tell me if these molds are in decent shape or are "shot"? And if they are in decent condition, what are they worth?

First set is labeled as MP 359-140 FB221700

Second set is labeled as HM2 311-160-5

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I had that first mould at one time, but sold it, as I had a similar 147 grain version. I shoulda kept the 140. Yours looks to be in pretty good condition, although one of the alignment holes seems to have some wear on an outside edge. MP/Mihec's current 6 cavity moulds run 85.00 last time I looked.
The second HM2 mould looks OK also, but he doesn't make moulds anymore. It is a first quality mould, I don't remember for sure but it probably cost at least 75.00 when new. I have at least 4 of his moulds and really like them.

Thanks! That is very helpful! I think I see what you are talking about on the alignment hole. I am still trying to figure out what I am going to keep and what I am going to sell. On the fence about casting at this point, but this fella sure seemed had everything you could possibly need for it! Kind of sad to think of the knowledge lost when he went.
