Found a like new in the box 4 cavity mould for what appears to be pistol mould and I can not find any reference to it in the Lyman books.

# 389417

I found one note about it on another website, should be a .390 diameter, 167 gr round nose, plain base.

Looks like a shortened version of the Lyman # 386178, for the 41 Long Colt caliber.

An info ??

Lyman’s first Cast Bullet Handbook describes it as “A fine round-nosed bullet which casts at .390 diameter.”

Additionally to the above, Lyman has this mold and three other molds listed for the 41 Colt heel bullet. I have no experience with the 41 Colt. Being a heel bullet it seems Ideal used the heel diameter to group their molds for this. All four 41 Colt bullets listed are together in the 386 section with the one you have as the only 389 - XXX. It goes on to say the major diameter is 406 on these to fit the barrel.

Yours is the largest bullet choice listed of the four. They are all listed with the 167 as the top punch / nose style.
