View Full Version : Which LEE 41 cal mold ?

OK going to start or at least try to find a passel of older LEE molds in 41 cal for my revolvers and lever rifle. I'd appreciate if everyone here that has or remembers some of the older LEE (or current) molds that have done well in the Marlin 1894 platform for you. I'm starting out with the LEE's because of cost and experience. When I get more I'll venture out to some of the more noted makers. Thanks Art Keys

I had good results with the Lee TL410-210-SWC. I'm going to try the Lee 410-195-SWC.

Only issue I have with my Lee 410-195-SWC is that its a single cavity mold! Its my plinking "Special" boolit under 8 grs Unique. All my .41s (Ruger, Smith, Marlin and TC) shoot it well. My other Lee is a 6 cav Ranch Dog TL411-255 RF which is made specifically for the Marlin.

The old 220 Lee swc is a great boolit for revolvers but the nose may be too long for a lever action. Lee also made one for the .41 AE but I don't remember the weight (175?). In my Blackhawks, the 210 TLSWC worked great.

I use Lyman 41028 in my 1894FG in 41. It has the perfect profile for tubular magazine carbines. The number has been out of production for many, many years but I'm sure NOE or some other supplier can provide. My Lyman mould drops at .414 and I size to fit my guns.

You may want to look at the 41 moulds at NOE. They have/had a 230 gr in a TC flat nose style, which should be perfect for feeding from a tube fed levergun. I have that mould buried in storage and haven't cast with it in some time. Some of the older discontinued Lyman moulds are getting pricey on the secondary market. Good luck! Bill in MA

An old Lee mold is the 240 grain csw-- long body short nose --shoots well &they show from time to time
Never heard of the Lee 220? the 210 tumble lube I had shot well as did a 195 gr HP Lee

They are now made as two-cavity molds.
