2 cards was too high for the crimp i’ve Used 24 grains of green dot for hammerhead type slugs so I’m thinking that the weights close. the balls lighter, so I dropped to 23 grains what do you guys think what’s a good powder? and load?looking at post I've seen universal-33 grains-blue dot 36 to 44 grains-hs6 to 36 max-herco to 30 grains

Greetings
All depends on desired velocity. If you want fast then Bluedot. If you want basic shotshell speed most any powder common to shot shells are going to serve well. A 12 bore RB at 1200 FPS will bash the lights out of most any critter. Cast of range scrap they will rip though and make nasty huge drain holes. Never had to pop any critter more than once with those.
What you will always face is the wad / powder / load height. Adjusting is normal. Always start low and add powder. I generally load one round of the powder weight adding 1/2 grain per shell and test those to be sure I am not wandering into pressure issues.

Hello Stripercrazy, https://i.imgur.com/7oa5lKC.jpg
Just cut a 3/4 inch photo copy paper strip and wrap it around the ball once in wad, should help.

Try this thread from about 5 years ago:

I had good results with 20 gauge hard cards and cream of wheat in a WAA12
wad. Used 1&1/8 ounce data with Rem Gunclubs mostly, and International Clays worked well.

Read that the hammerhead slugs take 17 grains of green dot so I’m starting there in the ballpark of 1000-1100 FPS

StriperCrazy, most deer are shot between 10 to 40 yards due to heavy brush and 40 or 50 yards being a long shot. You are right-on with your load and nothing is going to escape if you pull the trigger ! !
Sure would love to see a picture of your load like this if you can:
