disclaimer: this is a discussion thread, post your offerings in the PIF forum.

I just looked thru some of the PIF brass offerings, and I've noticed that certain calibers don't move to quick.

please post what brass you would jump on if it were posted.

.45-70, .30-06, .32-20, some of the odd ball 7mm-8mm sizes.

Lots of views, only one reply? Take a second and post what brass you would jump on if it came up. You never know who may see this and offer up what you're lookin' for!

BTW tinhorn, I don't have any of that. But if I come across any I'll be sure to post it up. Thanks for the quick reply!

444marlin, 44-40, 32-20, 327fed, 32H&R mag, 32 S&W short or long, and 22hornet. I'm just not on here when most of this type stuff comes up.

GhostHawk

Agree with dagunut.

.444Marlin seems to always be in demand.

The .32's I watched for 3 weeks and gave up, bought 500 new from Starline.

.44mag also seems to fly fast, as does .303 british.

I'm in good shape for most brass. My local range sells it reasonable. Pistol brass is essentially scrap brass price. Bit more for .45acp brass. I have 25 lb boxes of 9mm, .40sw, .45acp.

Rifle calibers only thing I am what I would consider short on is .444marlin brass. I have 150 and have been practicing some restraint, letting those who have none have first shot.

.223, 7.62x39 I have over a thousand of each just waiting. Most of my calibers have around 300 rounds loaded and brass waiting for need. So I can afford to be fussy.

Brass that raises my eyebrows:
41 Swiss CF (or 348 Win and 8mm Lebel to form 41 Swiss)(I'd love to have an original rimfire or 2)
.38 Special Wadcutter brass
7.65 Argentine
7.62x54R actual boxer brass.
.38 Super, .38 Super Comp, .38 Todd Jarrett
.303 British
7.62x25 again, actual boxer brass
6.5 Carcano

I wouldn't pass a good deal on 9mm, .40S&W, .38/.357, 30-30, 30-06, .223/5.56

I can think of more that i don't have the gun for but am planning on acquiring.

I sold some 221 Fireball here one time that folks almost came to blows over just to get at it - That was an education. Most of the older winchester calibers are tough to come by - 25-20, 218 Bee, 38-40 and 25-35 get snapped up. Now that Jamison has gone out of business, i suspect some of the earlier winchester bottle neck cases will be even harder to get 45-75, 50-95, etc

30-30 seams to be in high demand. 45-70 kinda as it gets snatched up asap when posted same with 35 rem but not sure if it is in high demand.

For pistol I would say 357/38. For me its 10mm.

Not all 223 brass is suatable for conversion to 300 without turning or reaming due to case wall thickness near where the new neck ends up. Some are a few thousand thicker in that area. There is a list floating around of good and bad brass to use by headstamp. Not sure if the same issue exists in 277 Wolverine but it should be similar. To some it is also a lot more work than they want to do.

Picked up 600 cases of once-fired Winchester brass in .40 S&W for $30 a couple of months ago at the range where my monthly match is held. Since 99% of my .40 S&W loads are low power match loads, and I can pick up most of my brass at each match, 600 will last me years.

But I would like to find some .35 Whelen cases and 10mm cases.

I have an outside neck turner but don't bother with "bad" brass, I just use it for 5.56 plinking loads. I'll have to check on .277 Wolverine, for S&G because I'm using LC, also Starline and Hornady now have .277 WLV head stamped brass, but I haven't heard anything about issues with brass.

There is no demand for 220 Swift!

I see stuff listed for 220 Swift with no takers and not even any interest.
Right now a neck turning set in S&S. For Christmas it was free brass. I also seem to remember unwanted dies.
I don't know anyone that has a 220 Swift and I have been unsuccessful finding anyone that wants 220 Swift brass, etc.

It probably would be easier to list what is not in demand. 9MM, 40 S&W, 223 are everywhere. You can't give 270's and 7MM Magnum away! Most others can be sold or traded.

After going through several shortages, not just the last one, I save nearly everything. I plan for my surviving family having brass, powder, primers, loaded ammo and lead to deal with when I'm gone. I started a few years ago trying to organize my stash so that it would be easier to deal with. Brass is sorted and in marked containers. Powder and primers are marked with the purchase dates. Loaded ammo is labeled as to load. Yeah, my place may be on a TV show someday!

I've been collecting .270 for a new project. Haven't seen any at the range the last couple of times out, but it does seem that most guys that shoot it don't reload. I would still like to have more, though.

You think .270 is hard to find. In my area I have been collecting 303 British for years and still only have 5 cases. Gun show after gun show they want 30-40 bucks for a half a box. Never do I see any empties. I comb the shelves at gun shops and shows with no results. When I do see some posted here they are gone.

Funny thing is I didnt even know they made a stripper clip for the 303 until BrassMagnet told me so on the phone. Been keeping my eye out for them now as well. Everything takes time.

I do not have one but I just remembered that 300 savage is rare to see also. Not in high demand.
