Have been smoking a brisket over mesquite since 7 this morning and since it's looking so good thought I would share my sauce recipe. Mix the following together
64 oz Heinz ketchup
6 Tbs lemon juice
6 Tbs liquid smoke
16 oz yellow mustard
1 cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tbs red pepper flakes
8 cups water
4 Tbs garlic powder
2 Tbs onion powder
8 Tbs Worchester sauce
4 Tbs BBQ seasoning
2 cups raw sugar

Bring to a boil stirring and boil for a half hour, add 1 lb butter and simmer and reduce until your thickness is reached.

Wow, that sounds like it makes a lot of sauce ... how much brisket are you smoking? Are you inviting us all over for a BBQ?

;)

I make a lot of BBQ pork, brisket, and ribs so when I make a batch of sauce it doesn't last long. That and I have severalfolks asking for jars of it. If you make it to Iowa a BBQ can be arranged

Google maps says that would be about a 4,000 mile return trip for me ...

Just sayin': all my best recipes start with "pour 2 ounces of alcohol into the cook".

Too bad about your sauce. No longer a secret so will gradually degrade to average Store Bottle Stuff,,, It's a law, look it up! :)

What kind of " BBQ seasoning"? Is it good on other meats?

made this today, 1/4 the recipe across the board. It made about 1 qt of sauce- perfect for me for a gathering with a pork butt cooked. It makes a sweet hot sauce that is quite good as written. I live in Ala. and we have several sauce types here depending on where you are in the state. This one is perfect for me. I used brn sugar because I didn't have raw sugar. Brn sugar is a common ingredient in the sauces from here. Thanks Blanket.
